Okay, Killington is giving us a date (I’ve mentioned it in the apocalypse thread), so I decided to get this thread started.

I want dates that are officials or that have been mentioned…not guesses.

Extended all of them in Quebec except MSA (fixed date) and MSS (cannot go further due to scheduled work). Some of the ones that I haven’t listed don’t have a fixed date, so there’s a potential for some to make as long as possible (I’m thinking Bush and the Cat) like last year.

It will be sad if local ski areas close with my backyard still covered in snow, however I’ve heard that some of them might be pushing their season as long as they can. The question I have is the CAN, financial or snow related? BTW, there is still over 2-3 ft in my backyard, more for the snowbanks. 8)

1st post has been updated. BobR, I thought that the May 12 was more than a rumour?

Whiteface is open daily until the 13th then…this is from their website.

Finally, whiteface will be open daily until the 13th of April; our snow depths right now is huge! Winter will never go away it is still a winter wonderland. Shortly we will determine our season extension. It is favorable that we will open the following weekend, but we will be sure to keep you posted!

BTW, I would be more than happy to used the vouchers for you?

Although I have never skied at Saddleback, I’ve seen many mountains transformed in my lifetime. There is always something lost. I’m afraid that icelanticskier might be right to be pessimistic about the plan.

Guy Thibaudeau from Skinet and le réseau MRG. He’s been giving ski reports and talking about ski conditions in French and English since I’ve been a kid. Anyway, he has a blog with the LaPresse newspaper (French). In his blog, he gives us a bunch of dates for Quebec areas.

Laurentides
– Tremblant; tous les jours jusqu’au 13 puis en prolongation le week-end des 18, 19 et 20 avril.
– Mont Blanc; tous les jours jusqu’au 6 avril.
– Belle Neige; tous les jours jusqu’au 6.
– Mont Saint-Sauveur; tous les jours jusqu’au 13. Week-ends par apres.
– Mont Habitant; tous les jours jusqu’au 6

Les centres suivants ouvriront pour le week-end; Vallee Bleue, Mont Avalanche, Chantecler, Ski Morin Heights, Mont Gabriel et Mont Olympia.

Lanaudiere
– Mont Garceau; tous les jours jusqu’au 6.
– Val Saint-Côme, tous les jours jusqu’au 6.

Ouverts ce week-end : La Réserve et Montcalm

Région de Montréal

Seul Mont St-Bruno fonctionne pour la semaine. Mont Rigaud ouvrira pour le weekend si le temps le permet.

Cantons de l’Est
– Bromont : tous les jours jusqu’au 13 avril.
– Mont Sutton; tous les jours sans date de fermeture fixe.
– Mont Orford : tous les jours jusqu’au 13
– Owl’s Head : tous les jours jusqu’au 6

Ce week-end : Montjoye

Québec/Charlevoix
– Mont Sainte Anne : tous les jours jusqu’au 20 probablement et fermeture le 27 avril.
– Stoneham; tous les jours jusqu’au 6
– Le Relais; tous les jours jusqu’au 6

Le Massif de Petite Riviere ainsi que le Massif du Sur rouvriront aussi vendredi pour le week-end.

Aussi les centres du Saguenay, Le Valinouet et Mont Edouard ainsi que ceux du Bas St-Laurent; Mont Comi, Val Neigette et Val D’Irene.

Ailleurs
On pourra compter sur Jay Peak et surtout Killington pour prolonger la saison en Nouvelle Angleterre. Le ski très tard se pratiquera donc au Mont Saint Sauveur, Mont Sainte-Anne, Massif du Sud, Le Valinouet, Mont Sutton et Killington.

With the record snowfall and snowpack in much of Quebec, many ski areas have decided to extended their season. What else are people going to do, go golfing with a couple feet of snow on the ground? I’m only mentioning Quebec ski areas which are mentioning extending beyond April 6. This is last possible date, some will be open midweek, weekend or Sturday only. Check with them first.

If you want them to stay open, everybody go skiing. I am. Not sure if I detour toward Whiteface or Tremblant (weather related) while going to Montreal? MRG on Saturday.

Go skiing…deals are everywhere. $35 at MRG, 2for $60 at Cannon, $50 at WF…cheap skiing for great skiing season is here.
