The spectacular Puyehue volcano in Chile erupted on June 4, 2011 spewing ashes from Puyehue to Bariloche and beyond. You get a good view of the volcano when you cross the main Chile-Argentina border at the pass between Osorno and Villa La Angostura. It was reported “that the road to be “full of stones” and being covered by 10 to 15 cm of “volcanic stone” by Chilean authorities” (emol.com).
Puyehue had one of the most interesting volcano descents in South America. Long approach and spectacular lines inside the crater. Meet Sarah last Summer in Pucon and she had skied some of them in the previous weeks. She shared with us the story about her expedition and showed pictures of the amazing lines while we all drank some Crystal.
Here is a small video from Salomon Freestyle TV – Into the Volcano. Hope you enjoy it.
