Someone told me that a few years ago that foreigners in this part of Patagonia, let alone skiers, were none existent. The Esquel ski area of La Hoya is still off the map compared to the busy northern Patagonian ski areas north on the famed Ruta 40. The ski areas to the North offer customers frills like high-capacity lifts, grooming, ski towns or slope side attractions. In La Hoya has only one thing and it’s the basic for skiing, lifts and terrain. In my books, that all that matters.
Here is the Guide of services offered at this Centro de actividades de montaña from 2008. The ski area has a vertical of 750 metres with 24 marked trails.
