For many, Las Leñas is mecca.
Mecca for any skier looking for easy access to some serious No Fall terrain. It’s also home to famed Marte chair that helps give access to that terrain. No need to squint at the trail map; this terrain isn’t marked or on the map, but you just need to have a good eye to see the limitless possibilities. The map contains a note of caution on the Fuera the Pista. Las Leñas isn’t only for the best skiers around; it has terrain for everyone. The ski area is one of the largest ski resorts in the country and is isolated in Argentina’s Mendoza province. Apart from the 1,230 vertical meters of skiing, Las Leñas is a first class resort with lodging, restaurants and bars. It even has a casino.
This Mapa de Pista from 2008 has an interesting feature in the way it opens up when unfolded. This small map is folded in an unconventional way; it opens up all up with no multiple unfolding. The ski area was celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2008. At its third and fourth season, the resort held in August 1985 and 1986 the first two downhill races of the World Cup seasons.
