This week we feature an Adirondack ski area that was for about ten years. Not many closed ski areas for few years get to open again, however this New York ski did reopened for the 2009-2010 season.
I picked up this brochure probably when I moved to Ottawa back in 1995. The ski area would market across into Canada with ads and dollar-at-par. The Big Tupper ski area would shutdown a few years after.
Big Tupper, circa 1995.
Season Dates: November to April
Base Elevation: 2000′
Summit Elevation: 3136′
Vertical Rise: 1152′
Ski Terrain: 105 acres, 28 trails
Lifts: 3 chair lifts, 1 T-bar, 1 beginner handle tow
Snowmaking: 50 new snow guns
Big things are happening at Big Tupper. New ownership. New trails. New equipment…Find out why Skiing magazine rated us the best bargain in the East.
Hoping to make it down there this season, especially if my youngest daughter gets the Grade 4 Ski NY passport. Harvey Road, the New York Ski blog will have someone posting update from the place. I’m always a sucker for a new place. 🙂
