Can’t escape the uncertainty in my career, despite a beautiful evening.
After an emotional roller-coaster weather and work wise, I had no motivation on this night (work situation described on the last published TR from January 16). I was feeling tired and stressed. Now I need to work on potential job changing document, so I’m skipping tonight Wednesday evening Masters event at Edelweiss to concentrate on under stuff. The blog has taken a backseat as I’m assessing the situation. I’m taking a break on the assessment and writing a few words here. I’ve been ski a bit, this was my 23rd ski day, however I’m a few TRs late describing local outings at races or training plus some 1993 Alps trips, but my focus has moved elsewhere lately. Some of these TRs will have pics and be published at some point.
Last evening was a beautiful snowy evening, -1c and a layer of fresh snow … nothing doing.
After a weekend of races, Morgane had evening training. We arrived shortly after 7pm. Kids were skiing a combi course with mixed gates in preparation for some kids next race on Sunday. The course had a combination of GS, SL and stubbies gates. There was also a meeting for organizing that race hosted by Edelweiss.
I got changed during the meeting and went to take some turns after. I also wanted to look at what was stored at the top of the hill.
I stopped at the top of the pitch of Zoomer on the first run; looked at the kids ski and chatted to the coaches. After my daughter cycled twice, I headed into the course with unsharp 182cm Rossi B2…note to self, if you want to ski a course, get the proper skis and tuned them accordingly.
From the second run I went down skier’s left on the top of Zoomer. I don’t remember if that part had been groomed recently; it was fun to ski something different from carpet flat. Lower down on the main slope, I skied the layer of fresh snow between the woods and the course. The kids were about to teardown the course, I had enough, I headed inside after only 40 minutes.
Despite a beautiful evening, I didn’t have it in me to ski tonight. Surface was nice and carveable, track in the course somewhat icy. So far 2013 has sucked for an entirely different reason.
