Two weeks since the last night of skiing.
My daughter reconnecting with Edelweiss, Slalom training and Strief after 5 days of skiing mostly Super G at Ste-Marie.
Back to installing Bnet for Sunday’s U16 Slalom championship on Streif.
After miscommunication between the meaning of 5:30pm : departure time from Rideau Centre with a friend or arrival at home, we arrived at the hill shortly before 7pm.
My daughter was taking advantage of training on a similar course that what is going to be set for Sunday’s slalom. It’s a good thing, she needed to reconnect with own she skied slalom prior to her injury last February. She wasn’t happy with her slalom runs this season.
After a sunny +3c today, snow surfaces froze up in the evening. Not a hard freeze as temperature was at the freezing mark; you could still carve nicely with good edges and speed up on the icy. I did a few runs and watching Morgane ski the course. Pass the message from the coach or what I saw then got pulled over to set some netting. We talked about the logistics of organizing Sunday’s race. Also mentioned the upcoming Masters’ Finals at Edelweiss on March 16.
Overall it was a good evening. Morgane skied well tonight. Many kids skied well. We left once the lights were off, I didn’t have my watch tonight.
Snow in Ottawa was coming the next day…reconnecting with a snowstorm on Wednesday. About 12 inches had fallen on the city when I was walking back from work. The Masters race was cancelled due to the logistic of running a race with no course crew, but some racers were heading out to take advantage of the powder (not me). I decided to take tomorrow off, not for skiing, but to catch up on stuff from house, job scouting, blogging, RRSP deadline and paying property taxes in Montreal and other issues.
