Five years ago today, after a subpar snowyear similar to this ski season, Ullr and Mother Nature came together to give Eastern skiers a Valentine’s Day that they will never forget. That storm marked the start of an incredible series of snowstorms that would continue for the next two months happening near marked calendar days like Valentine Day, President weekend, St-Patrick’s Day, Easter weekend and the following one. From a terrible year to an amazing year and Valentine Day’s marked the turning point.

First to last major storm TRs. Not sure what I’m taking about? Read the past published TRs of these memorable snow events (I still need to import the Easter storm TR unto the blog):
Fortune Race to Powder Combo – Smuggs & MRG – Feb 14-16, 2007
Whiteface, NY – April 15, 2007 – another powder day
Mother nature showed us some love when she dumped up snow on a good portion of the East with amount reaching as high to 3′-4′ in vicinity of Smuggs and MRG.
After two days at Smuggs, here is what FTO’s Hamdog had to say:
Can’t complain about today, but v-day was by far the best damn valentine I have ever received! Much love
So far the similarity between early 2006-2007 and 2011-2012 ski seasons are striking in term of snow accumulation. Still hoping Ullr and Mother Nature get together again in 2012!!!
Praying to Ullr to send us some loving in this snow starve season.
