Driving the 30 minutes travel from Ottawa to Edelweiss.
Forgot about the time change.
Where had the time gone? Where had the last month and Winter gone? Where we already in mid-March.
Morgane and I hadn’t driven to a ski hill in one month.
Back to listening to her radio station, Hot 89.9, like we always did…issh!!!
Then this song comes up and she says…”What Madonna? Isn’t she like 60 years old?” 🙂
First visit back to Edelweiss in one month.
Almost one month to the day, Morgane broke her leg and it was -20 in the morning.
We moved one hour last night and skip straight into Spring: +13 Celsius and corn.
Lost one hour of sleep lost as we Spring into Spring and didn’t show until noon when the kids of the race program we’re coming in for lunch.
I was alone with Morgane as Tara preferred spending time with her friend at the swimming pool. She had been home and sick all week without seeing any friends. Of course Morgane didn’t ski, but she wanted come back to the mountain and see her friends. Unfortunately any of her friends from the program had just left for Spring Break at Jay Peak. She did get to spend time with the only girl at her level.
After lunch and speaking to a few folks, it was 1:30pm when I went out for a few turns. One hour worth of Spring turns. I have a pass, which I haven’t really use much this year. Although the parking lot was extremely muddy and pretty full, however I didn’t see that many people at the hill. We’re they all at the tubing? Five runs, split between Zoomer and Strief. Snow texture was wet corn snow, not the frozen granular stuff corn snow, not yet. It was nice, soft and sweet, especially down Strief. That pitch is great, but unfortunately too short and the flats to get to and from was getting sticky. I’m pretty sure that if they would have been some traffic, it would have bumped up nicely. Nice 1980s Gray Rocks late April weather, I saw a few people without their ski jackets.
Slightly less than one hour of skiing, loss one hour last night and it would seem that Winter is over (for now); full Warm Spring weather. Spring Break is starting and it suppose to be the same all week.
Driving back down, same Radio and a bunch of the same songs in different order including that one from Madonna. I’m nowhere near from being a fan, but now I have that song stuck in my head. This isn’t the first time when Spring Skiing and a Madonna’s song has been stuck in my head going a long drive to Killington in the mid 1980s. If feels like it was like 40 years ago.
