Although it was almost the end of April, this past weekend was the first real Spring skiing weekend. Skiers were out in drove this weekend, at least where I skied (Whiteface, Tremblant, Fortune), to catch some rays, work on their goggle tans and make some turns in the warm weather. Some ski hills had extended their season to give us at least one Spring skiing weekend while under kept to their predetermined scheduled without even considering an extra weekend regardless of their record closing day snow coverage. Even if these hills are closed, some of them will still have some earn your turns skiing to be had for days if not weeks.
With the arrival of the warm weather and potential rain this week will have an impact on the snowpack, the ski area management and skiing public resolve to extend their season into May. Regardless of this somber note, we still have the best coverage and ski options this late in the season since I’ve been keeping track of the Eastern Closings in 2006. After this weekend, they’ll be some decision-making into “where to ski in the East in May 2018” as Eastern ski enthusiast will have a few more options that usual.
Go skiing, before it’s too late!!!
