Update : Thursday 2pm – last call for liftserved (read below)
I’m typing this while it’s pouring outside.
So only one is talking to open this coming weekend and it isn’t MSS. Killington is the last one standing in the East barring a sudden change of plans. The Beast is back. After being the first to open by a big margin, they are now the last to close; giving them back, after so many years, the longest season in the East.

MONT ST-SAUVEUR: May 19 (official closing day)
Surprise!!! MSS announced today that their season was over. Not that it surprising that they made it as far as May 19, even if their projected closing date was May 12. The surprise was that they closed with such a good base; the snowdepth on their last day was often between 4-10′ deep. The hard rain probably didn’t help, but not many people recalls MSS closing with as much snow.
Although on Sunday it would seem that MSS would probably surpassed their 2011’s May 22 closing date, it wasn’t meant to be. Forecast always plays a big role this time of the year for skiers and some ski areas. The week’s forecast might have played a role. It will be the first time that MSS hasn’t been around on the last weekend of the season since 2006. It is also falling short from being only 2 weekend away from their 1997 closing record of June 2.

KILLINGTON: May 26* June 2 (very tentative)
As it stands now, the June weekend at Killington is very tentative. The call will be made at the latest, on Thursday May 30, however they are going to be open this weekend.
K is also not opening this Friday due to weather; opening Sat-Sun and Memorial Day Monday May 27, however some walking might be required. The question is how much will be left and if they want to open in June at all cost? Lift ticket will be $29 for all ages.
The word is out…this weekend will be the last.*
1:32 p.m. 5/23/13–Given the intensity of the rain we received last night and the forecast of significant rain starting tonight through the day on Saturday, our operational plans have changed since last night’s communication. This weekend (May 25th & May 26th), we will be offering FREE skiing and riding for all at Killington! Walking between snowfields will be required in several spots. Ma Nature is charging into summer and has other things in mind for us other than skiing, like golf and Mt Biking? To push any remaining snow to make connecting bridges would only hasten the melt process. Please note we are now going to operate Saturday and Sunday only, from 8-5, on the Superstar lift and trail.
Killington hasn’t been last to close since 2007 when it was tied with MSS, Sugarbush and Sugarloaf. This is also the latest closure since MadPat had been keeping tracks of Eastern Closing Dates since 2006.
So this weekend, it will be Superstar and the Superstar Express Quad or Take a Hike for turns for the last weekend of May in the East.
