Raining here in Ottawa, snow showers in the Gaspé Peninsula and I’m not even talking about California. Many ski areas objective was Easter and now that Easter has passed, so has many ski seasons. Fifty-three to sixteen, that is the difference one mid-April Easter weekend can do to the open ski areas count. Eastern Québec was still pretty deep with often 100% of their runs open, but interest in late season there as everywhere else, is fading. Skiing close to Montreal will be limited to St-Sauveur and Northern Vermont, all the other Quebec ski areas are all East of Québec City.
The midweek lift options are totally non-existent in Québec; however that isn’t the case yet in New England ski areas where everyone, but one, are running lifts daily.
Numbers from previous seasons: Total / New York & New England
2017 : 16 / 7
2016 : 14 / 8
2015 : 10 / 7
2014 : 11 / 5
2013 : 8 / 4
2012 : 6 / 3
An important note to remember, this list can change at any moment. Even if there is snow, call ahead, some might not bothering spinning if the weather doesn’t compare with the notion of Spring skiing.
Remember, the ski season is never over, it just moves elsewhere.
