Easter is always the last Holiday weekend that ski resorts would like to include on the season calendar. As the season have been getting shorter, Easter weekend is often for most getting hard to reach or justify.
This season has the most ski areas open for the third weekend in April than any other season in the last few seasons. They are still areas that pushed to make it to this weekend, so much that Killington and a few resorts made snow only a few weeks ago.
Mother Nature was hard for a few areas that were hoping for Easter weekend skiing. However in the case of Quebec’s South shore Massif du sud, last weekend’s mechanical failure of their lift abruptly cut short their season by two weekends; the important repair can’t be done rapidly.
The week weather has been pretty wet as over the East. Many rain days and above freezing temperatures are wrecking the snowpack. I did an initial draft two days ago, but I’ve been busy taking maximum advantage of the remaining snow to keep updated on the situation across the remaining ski resorts. Weekend for Easter weekend isn’t helping either, as Quebec’s Eastern Townships received a massive downpour today and more rain in the forecast, all the remain 4 areas have drastically cut their plans for a long weekend to just one day, maybe two.
Typing this blog piece on my phone isn’t the easiest. Sorry for the format.
